It seems to me that I have been doing a lot of looking back into the past. 5 years ago I was well under 200lbs. Today I am a daunting 250lbs. What happened? And what am I willing to do about it?
For the past couple years I have enjoyed the popular TV show “The Biggest Loser” The weight loss achieved on the show is inspiring. I watched the show before I ever had a problem with my weight. The male contestants would typically end the season weighing just about the same as me. Time started to pass and I started to weigh just a bit more than the contestants. Now this season many of the male contestants are already weighing less than me.
I have noticed this weight gain for a while, and I have “tried” to get a handle on it. I put the tried in quotation marks because if I truly would have tried it still wouldn’t be a problem.
I was especially inspired by the latest episode of the biggest loser. Daris and Koli were the only two left in the challenge. They had been climbing Jacobs’s ladder for well over 1 hour. Both of them were not terribly interested in winning the prize, but they did want to win. They were competing strong when after a while Daris thought to himself what is the point? He gave up. He later talked about the regret that he had for just giving up.
I too have regret for just giving up. The only explanation for my weight gain over the years is simple. I have stopped trying. It seems on “The Biggest Loser” there is always some emotional barrier that needs to be destroyed. I am not sure what that is for me. I hope that this blog will help me figure that out and I too can start to live a healthy active life.
My goal weight 180lbs. That is a weight loss of 70+ lbs.
